More than 65 Army personnel of the 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) of the 223 Infantry Brigade of the 22 Infantry Division were quick to rush to douse a sudden fire that broke out in the drug store and the laboratory building at Thambalagamuwa Divisional Hospital in Thambalagamuwa on 01 October.
Troops fighting alongside with Policemen, Firefighting Brigade and civilians in the area brought the ravaging fire in the hospital within a short period preventing the fire from further spread.
