Troops of the 15 Sri Lanka Artillery (15 SLA) on their own donated a large stock of dry rations worth over Rs.120,000.00 to Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama on Monday (Mar 20) with the objective of helping to resolve economic hardships, faced by patients.
The project was initiated and guided by Lieutenant Colonel W.A.S.M Wijayalath, Commanding Officer (CO), 15 SLA on account of the 3rd anniversary of the 15 SLA under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division and the Brigade Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade. The stock contained rice, dhal, noodles, etc. and the cost of the stock was borne by all Officers and Other Ranks of the 15 SLA, well-wishers and volunteering family members. The Commander, Security Forces - West gave his guidelines and approval for the project.
The Commanding Officer, 15 SLA handed over the stock to hospital authorities in the presence of a few Officers and Other Ranks.
