143 Brigade Troops Erect School Building in Puttalam

Troops of the 143 Brigade under command to the 14 Division of the Security Force HQ- West erected a hall for the benefit of school students, practising dancing in the Mailankulam Primary School in Puttalam for the students who follow dancing with financial assistance from the Interact District Council Colombo 3220/21/22 Foundation and manpower of the troops of the 143 Brigade and 16 Gajaba Regiment.

The hall erected was 20 ft in width and 40 ft in length. This long-standing need of the school was identified by Brigadier T.M.F Kichilan, Commander, 143 Brigade. Brigadier J.M.R.N.K Jayamanna, General Officer Commanding, 14 Division gave his blessings for the project.

Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces - West attended as the chief guest during the inauguration of the building on Friday (2) where the building was vested in the school authorities.

The project was carried out as a part of the Army’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

The occasion was also attended by members of the Maha Sangha, clergy, Commander, 141 Brigade, Brigadier S.P.G Gamage, Colonel General Staff of the Security Force HQ-West, several Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

Meanwhile, with sponsorship of the same ‘Interact District Council Colombo 3220/21/22’, the 14 Division’s 143 Brigade supplied books and school accessories for children and the the school library on the same occasion.
