An initiative of the 143 Infantry Brigade HQ of the 14 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters-West received the patronage of a philanthropist for donation of school accessories, gifts and essentials to children learning at Buddhinee Early Childhood Development Center at Thabbowa fishermen’s hamlet on Saturday (03).
16 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 143 Infantry Brigade as per instructions of Brigadier Faumi Kitchilan, Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade organized the distribution in close coordination with the donors, Mr. Tishan Rambukwella and his family members.
17 kids planning to enter the Grade 1 in new schools for the year 2023 and 4 kids waiting to join preschools in the next year were donated school accessories, bags, Christmas gifts, along with a sumptuous lunch. The presence of Santa Claus with gifts amid Calypso music brought festive spirits to the occasion where kids joined singing and dancing.
Thabbowa fishing hamlet has a community of fishermen of the region whose poverty levels have caused hardships with the onset of prevailing financial constraints.
The Commanding Officer, 16 Gajaba Regiment and troops took part in the arrangement.
