141 New Recruits Pass Out from Veditallativu Training School

Commando Regiment Special Warfare Training School (CRSWTS) of the Commando Regiment in Veditallativu, Mannar on Saturday (28) added one more contingent of specially trained 141 new recruits (Course No. 5) to the Army upon completion of their basic training.

Those recruits were awarded merit certificates after they passed out in the formal ceremony as Commando Regiment members.

Physical training and band displays at the venue coloured the ceremony, attended by Major General Athula Galagamage, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division as the day’s Chief Guest.

The training saw the recruits receiving training in drills, field craft, tactics, physical training, map reading, sports, etc under a team of instructors, including the Chief Instructor, Major P.H.S. Navarathna, Regimental Sergeant Major, Warrant Officer I R. Wanigasinghe, Drill Instructor, Sergeant P. Kumara and Chief Physical Training Instructor, Sergeant L.M. Premaratne.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks as well as parents, relatives and friends of new recruits witnessed the ceremony.

Following are the achievers and best platoons in the Course;

Best Platoon - Alpha Platoon

Best Platoon Commander - Captain W.M.R Udaya Kumara (Sri Lanka Armoured Corps)

Best Platoon Sergeant - Sergeant E.R Wijesuriya (Gajaba Regiment)

Best Physical Instructor - Private T. Eranga (Sri Lanka National Guard)

Best Shooter - Recruit D.B Bandara

Best Physique - Recruit R.K Keerthiratna

Best All Rounder - Recruit M.M Chathuranga
