14 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) in memory of its fallen War Heroes organized a simple and solemn event last Monday (Dec 26) at the Lauris Children’s Orphanage in Maligakanda with the intention of remembering 14 VIR War Heroes of who made the supreme sacrifice during the humanitarian operations at Komalamunei area in Mullaittivu.
The troops served a delicious lunch to 23 resident kids in the orphanage and donated sanitary and essential items, worth of Rs. 15000 sponsored by Officers and other ranks themselves in order to transfer merits. The cordial interaction culminated with an entertaining musical event, provided by VIR calypso band.
The program was initiated by Major P.A.T Niroshan, Commanding Officer, 14 VIR under the guidance of Major General Roshan Jayamanna, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division and Brigadier Ravindra Jayasinghe, Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade.
