Major General Shamantha Wickramasena of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed office on Monday (14) as the 13th General Officer Commanding of the 14 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - West.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 14 Division was welcomed on arrival by the Staff Officers of the Division Headquarters before he was ushered to the office. Major General Shamantha Wickramasena in his new office left his signature for an official document and signified the acceptance of new office amidst the religious blessings.
Later on, the newly-appointed General Officer Commanding had a familiarization discussion with Brigade Commanders of under command Brigades in order to receive an overview of their roles.
Brigade Commanders of 141, 142, 143 Staff Officers of the Headquarters 14 Division, Commanding Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
Before this new appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division.
