12 Infantry Division Builds New Home for Family in Need

Troops of the 12 Infantry Division, under the guidance of the Commander of the Army, commenced the construction of a new home for an impoverished family in Sellakatharagama on 24 February 2024.

Major General C.S Munasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc IG, General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division and Basnayaka Nilame of Ruhunu Katharagama Dewalaya, laid the cornerstone marking the beginning of this noble initiative. The family, comprising six children and their disabled father, lacked adequate shelter.

Mr. Hirosh Jayathilaka made a generous financial contribution to the project through the coordination of Mr. Dishan Gunasekara, Basnayaka Nilame of Ruhunu Katharagama Dewalaya. The skilled troops of 3 Sri Lanka National Guard will provide technical expertise and labor to realize the construction.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the cornerstone laying ceremony.
