112 Brigade Soldiers Mitigate Landslide Risks around Late Soldier's House

Fellow-soldiers of the 112 Brigade of the 11 Division immediately intervened and cleared vulnerable earthslips and soil mounds around the house of a family of a dead soldier at Poonagala, Koslanda area in Badulla District as the onset of torrential rains were posing a danger to the house and its inhabitants.

On being informed of developing risks around the said house with the start of heavy rains and storms, 112 Brigade Commander dispatched a team of soldiers to the location, despite prevailing inclement weather since the family with children was facing a life-threat in the event of any landslide or an earthslip.

Well aware of the gravity of the uncertainties surrounding the said house, 112 Brigade troops continuously for three days (10-12 May) worked hard and completely mitigated the danger of earthslips or landslides after removing and clearing earth mounds and muddy soil slopes surrounding the house to make it safer for them to live in.

Brigadier Anura Dassanayake, Brigade Commander, 112 Brigade on directions of the General Officer Commanding, 11 Division and Commander, Security Forces – Central took the initiative for this worthy cause.
