Major General R.M.M Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 11 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen), amid religious blessings at the 11 Infantry Division Headquarters in Kundasale on Tuesday (18 July).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 11 Infantry Division was welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout, presented by troops as he entered the premises. Subsequently, troops of the 5 Sri Lanka Light Infantry honoured him in a Guard of Honour salute after he reviewed the parade.
Afterwards, the new GOC in his new office symbolically signed an official document to mark the assumption of his duties and was invited to plant a mango sapling in the compound.
A few minutes later, the new GOC in line with military formalities addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he expressed his vision for the Division in future. Staff Officers of the 11 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
