11 Field Engineers Busy Re-doing Road Patch from Ayagama to Kalawana

11 Field Engineer Regiment troops of Sri Lanka Engineers as advised are currently engaged in the complete renovation of a road patch of 16.5 km along the Ayagama to Kalawana main road under the government's 100,000 km alternative rural road development project after instructions were given by the General Shavendra Silva ,Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army to the Major General Nihal Amarasekara Chief Field Engineer and the Major General Chandana Wijayasundara General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division.

The project, estimated at a cost of Rs.209 m started in August 2020 under the direct supervision of the Brigadier Anurudda Senevirathna, Plant Engineer Brigade Commander. As the Phase 1 and the Phase 2 of the project, launched in May 2021 is now in full swing under the guidelines, issued by the Road Development Authority.

The dilapidated road patch with potholes caused immense transport difficulties to the general public until the President's ' Gama Samaga Pilisandarak' in the district sought the assistance of the Army for renovation and repair of this road as one more project, entrusted to the Army.
