Major General Rohitha Aluvihare of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central on Monday (19) amid religious blessings at the 11 Division Headquarters in Pallekale.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 11 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout, presented by troops as he entered the premises. A formal Guard of Honour afterwards presented arms and saluted him in accordance with army formalities.
In his new office, the new GOC signed an official document to symbolically mark the assumption of his duties. After a while, the new GOC addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he expressed his vision for the Division in the future.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 11 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
He succeeds Major General Kalpa Sanjeewa who is to retire from the service shortly.
