11 Division New GOC Takes Office

Brigadier T. J Nanayakkara recently assumed office as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division Headquarters, Kandy during a simple ceremony, rich with military formalities.

In the morning, 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (1SLRC) troops at its Headquarters greeted him in a Guard Turnout before he was accorded a parade in his honour by 5 (volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops at the same venue.

At the entrance to the 11 Division Headquarters, a Guard Turnout saluted him before he was conducted to the office complex at the 11 Division Headquarters. A few minutes later, the new GOC in his new office signed an official document and signified the acceptance of the new office, amidst greetings. A Buddhist monk invoked blessings on the new appointment by tying a blessed thread on the new GOC.

A tea table, consisted of sweetmeats and traditional New Year food varieties enabled the new GOC to share a few thoughts with all ranks, present there.
