The 11 Infantry Division located at Pallekele recently celebrated its 13th anniversary amidst religious rituals, military formalities and community services under the guidance of Major General Rohitha Aluvihare, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Infantry Division during 14-15 February.
A day before the anniversary day (Feb 14), troops visited the Temple of Tooth in Kandy and offered a ‘Kiri Ahara Pooja’ (milk food) with the intention of invoking merits on fallen war heroes and receiving blessings for the Divisional troops.
The Anniversary day’s proceedings began with a colourful Guard Turnout at the entrance and a ceremonial parade in honour of the GOC, the protagonist of the day. Afterwards, the GOC addressed the troops and contributed to the distribution of dry rations to the value of Rs. 55,000.00 to the ‘Biso Menike Dambawinna Elders' Home at Theldeniya, Kandy.
Finally, the Chief Guest participated in an All Rank lunch where he got the opportunity to interact with the Divisional staff and soldiers.
