109 Poverty-Stricken Students at Hinguraka Primary School Receive Incentives

A total of 109 students learning at Hinguraka Primary School, one of the most remote and less-privileged schools in the Hingurakgoda Divisional Secretariat through Army coordination were the recipients of school accessories and stationery, thanks to the sponsorship, extended by the social service activist, Mrs Lakmini Fonseka on Friday (25).

The project got underway with the blessings of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Lal Chandrasiri and through the organization of 7 Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery at the Hinguraka Primary School premises.

Those 109 students of Grade 1 - 5, belonging to very under privileged families undergo economic hardships and were without resources to buy school essentials. After the award ceremony, the same donor, Mrs Lakmini Fonseka entertained all beneficiaries to a sumptuous lunch treat through her sponsorship.

Colonel Kumara Perera, Colonel General Staff, 23 Division representing the East Commander participated in the distribution ceremony.

Lieutenant Colonel L.R.N.B.U Rathnayake, General Staff Officer 1, 23 Division, Mrs Lakmini Fonseka, Principal, representatives of the donor, officials of the Zonal Education Office were among the participants in addition to Major W.M.K.W Wijeratne, 2nd in Command of the 7th Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment of the Minneriya Army Camp and Major D.P.S.S Karunaratne of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment.
