10 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 144 Infantry Brigade of the 14 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - West on account of the following 74th Army Anniversary and the International Elders’ and Children’s Day carried gift parcels and entertained the residents at Municipal Home for Adults and Children at Battaramulla on Sunday (1 October).
Brigadier K.D.C.L Wijenayake RWP RSP USP, the Brigade Commander of the 144 Infantry Brigade on the guidelines given by Major General U. D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, SF-West and Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division organized this special community-oriented project in an attempt to add deserving importance to the special day.
A lunch treat plus gifts parcels including books, stationeries and clothes plus a Calypso band entertainment dominated the day’s project.
The financial assistance provided by Army troops of the 10 SLNG enabled the conduct of this memorable event on behalf of those children and adults.
Senior Officers inclusive of the Brigade Commander 144 Infantry Brigade, Civil Affairs Officer, 144 Infantry Brigade and the Officiating Commanding Officer, 10 SLNG and several Other Ranks participated in the programme.
