1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the 583 Infantry Brigade in the 58 Infantry Division under command to the 1 Corps quickly responded and provided their manpower assistance to the staff in the Railway Department and Police to clear the congestion that occurred along Pasyala-Giriulla road after a container truck collided with a fast moving train at Vilwaththa railway crossing in Mirigama on 09 August 2023.
A few more than 25 Army personnel including Officers went to the location and gave their fullest support to clear the wreckage in the accident and restored normal vehicle movement along the main road.
