Major General S. U. M. N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Commander, 1 Corps and Director General General Staff and All Ranks of 1 Corps, together with Muslims living in Kilinochchi sat together at the Jumma Mosque in Kilinochchi on Friday (21) evening in order to perform the ‘Iftar’ ritual, the breaking of fast at sunset.
The performance of the ritual ‘Iftar’ symbolized the degree of reconciliation and the goodwill as well as the deep respect the Army attaches to this religious performance, practised by world-wide Muslims. It was also meant to invoke blessings on the prosperity of the country.
After prayers for breaking of the fast ‘Iftar’, the Commander 1 Corps and Director General General Staff together with Senior Officers of 1 Corps, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and Other Ranks and the gathering partook of refreshments and symbolized the practice of the ritual.
