‘Piliweth Puranno’ Goes to Welikanda at SFHQ-E’s Request

Maharagama-based ‘Piliweth Puranno’, a charity organization, dedicated to uplift living standards of poverty-stricken families and students at the request of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) arrived in Welikanda, carrying a consignment of school accessories, educational and sports equipment, shoes, and most essentials to low-income families to the value of about Rs 6 lakhs.

The distribution programme, coordinated and well organized by the SFHQ-E under the guidance of Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E) took place at Dimbulana Kanishta Vidyalaya premises in Welikanda on account of Christmas and the festive season.

‘Piliweth Puranno’, headed by Ven Kottawe Hemawansa Thero, a missionary Buddhist monk, based in Bangladesh, Ven M. Shasanawansa Thero and a team of members of the organization were there to award those gift parcels to the selected children and families.

Dimbulana Kanishta Vidyalaya students showing their gratitude, staged cultural performances and coloured the distribution ceremony in the presence of the principal, teachers and fellow students.

This community-oriented empowering project, coordinated by the SFHQ-E came in for praise of the parents during the event.

Ven Ahungalle Chiththalankara, Thero Chief Incumbent of Dimbulana Parakum Viharaya, Lieutenant Colonel R.A.T Ranasinghe, Chief Coordinator Civil Affairs, SFHQ - East, Lieutenant Colonel S.M.S Samarakoon, Assistant Civil Affairs Officer, SFHQ - East, students, parents, teachers and other well-wishers were associated with this community event.
