Troops of the 552 Infantry Brigade of the 55 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna offered refreshments and medical treatment to the pilgrims on ‘Katharagama Paada Yathra’ when they were passing the general area of the Elephant Pass on Tuesday (9).
Those devotees, expecting to participate in the forthcoming Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devala festival in the South every year undertake this foot pilgrimage from the Jaffna peninsula.
Major General M.K.U.P Gunarathne RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division and Colonel D.G.J.B.P Dembatagahawaththa USP psc, Overlooking Commander of the 552 Infantry Brigade closely supervised the project and gave their guidance.
