‘Harmony Soccer’ Match Win Goes to Kilinochchi ‘Sivapuram Central’ Sports Club

Kilinochchi-district based ‘Harmony Soccer’ match, meant to promote goodwill, understanding and reconciliation between civilians and members of the Security Forces got underway at Sivapuram grounds in Kilinochchi on Thursday (21) on a suggestion, made by Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division.

The friendly soccer match, held between ‘Sivapuram Central’ soccer team and 1 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) team was enthusiastically organized by 573 Brigade troops of the 57 Division under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 57 Division.

Soccer players of the 1 SLSR team and players of the ‘Sivapuram Central’ Soccer Club in a closely contested match vied with each other in the final round before a large gathering of sports fans, civilians and members of the Security Forces who had assembled at Sivapuram village grounds in Kilinochchi.

However, players in the ‘Sivapuram Central’ Sports Club, scoring 2 - 1 goals against their rivals emerged winners in an impressive manner. The awarding ceremony afterwards was headed by the GOC, 57 Division as the Chief Guest.

Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana, Commander Security Forces – Kilinochchi has given his blessings to the project.

Brigade Commanders of 571, 572 and 573 Brigades of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, Officers, civilians and soccer fans assembled there to watch the final tussle.
