The International Maritime Security Conference, ‘Galle Dialogue - 2014’ organized by Sri Lanka Navy for the 5th consecutive year under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development began at the Lighthouse Hotel in Galle on Monday (1).
Professor G.L Peiris, Minister of External Affairs as the Chief Guest addressed the gathering during the inauguration.
Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development as a special guest attended the inaugural sessions while the National Security Advisor of India, Dr Ajit Kumar Doval delivered the keynote address after brief welcome remarks of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera.
This year’s conference on the theme ‘Cooperation and Collaboration for Maritime Prosperity’ will culminate on Tuesday (2). Local and foreign experts from 39 countries are expected to share their views and concerns.
Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army was also present at the inaugural sessions.
