'Abimansala' Wellness Resort Receiving Final Touches

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army Sunday (5) afternoon made a surprise visit to the ‘Abimansala’ (wellness resort for permanently disable War Heroes) site at Anuradhapura, now receiving finishing touches.

Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) whose organization has thrown its full weight behind realization of the project by way of raising funds via ‘Brave Hearts’, was also associated with the visit.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya inspected the construction site and met project supervisors of the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) in order to learn their requirements, if any and shared views on various relevant aspects. He requested them to accelerate the completion of the project as early as possible.

During his stay there, the Commander made inquiries regarding sanitary ware, expected to be used for the entire project and instructed them accordingly, emphasizing the importance of using high quality materials. He also wanted most modern techniques in building washrooms be used, considering their durability and physical needs of the inmates.

While thanking and appreciating hard work and commitment of the Army Engineers, the Commander went round the site and saw for himself how the hydrotherapy unit, swimming pool and additional annexure are being given final touches.

The ‘Abimansala’, state of the art wellness resort for permanently dependent War Heroes for rest and recreation, kicked off a few months ago as a conceptual model of the Commander. The project costs Rs 200 million.

Several senior officers were at the site during the Commander’s visit.
