  • More Training Programmes for Army Retirees

    The Non Commissioned Officers’ Training School (NCOTS), Kalaoya concluded one more training programme, based on ‘Spiritual Bio-dynamic Traditional Agriculture’ for officers and other ranks who will shortly retire from the service with the support of the ‘Sanasa Nature Farm’ (Sobadaham Govipala) at Ukuwela on Monday (3). 17 Army personnel followed this 4-month long course, intended to further enhance their knowledge on farming and earn an additional income upon retirement. Award of certificates to those Army personnel upon successful completion of their training took place during a ceremony on Monday (3) held at NCOTS main Auditorium, Kalaoya.
  • Soldiers Support Conduct of Scouts' 'Jamboree'

    12 Gajaba Regiment troops of 231 Brigade under 23 Division serving Kallady area at the request of the Sarasvathi School in Urani, Batticaloa facilitated the conduct of a ‘Jamboree’ of the school’s boy scouts. More than 60 boy scouts participated in the arrangement with the participation of a group of Army personnel who volunteered to support the project. 
  • 'HR Leadership Award' Conferred on Major General Goonetilleke

    Major General H.C.P Goonetilleke was honoured awarding the ‘HR Leadership Award’ at The Asia Pacific HRM Congress Awards 2014 held recently at Vivanta Taj Bangalore, India. The award was conferred by the Jury and Council of Board Members of the Asia Pacific HRM Congress. The Asia Pacific HRM Congress is governed by a Global Advisory Council and a National Advisory Council which guide the strategic intent of the Congress to its logical success.........
  • Historic Gun Battle Memories at Elephant Pass Immortalized

    IMMORTALIZING memories of the fierce gun battles, fought by valiant War Heroes at the strategic Elephant Pass, a special War Hero Memorial, erected in honour of fallen War Heroes, was ceremonially unveiled by Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa Friday (30) morning, amidst a pantheon of military chiefs, including Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Commander of the Navy.   • Jaffna Achievers in A/L Exam Felicitated & Given Further Support for Studies

    Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ – J) recently appreciated achievements, displayed by students at G.C.E Advanced Level examination in a special ceremony that awarded more financial grants for highest studies. At the Kokuvil Hindu College auditorium, the ceremony awarded 12 scholarships to those who achieved best results in the recent examination for their further studies.   • Madhu Church Festival Begins

    VAVUNIYA: THE first MADHU festival after the heroic troops liberated the north and east from the clutches of LTTE terrorists began on a grand scale on Saturday (8) with the arrival of 1071 pilgrims to the Holy Church.  Those pilgrims consisted of 481 males, 368 females, 132 girls and 90 boys. They came on 68 light vehicles and 20 heavy vehicles. Security Forces facilitated them to enter the MADHU area.

    Sri Lanka Army emerged the overall champions winnings both men's and women's segments at the 30th  Sri Lanka National Rowing Championships, conducted by the Amateur Rowing Association on the waters of the Diyawanna Oya. The 30th National Rowing Championship was held during 24 - 26 September at Diyawanna lake with the participation.....

  • SFHQ-E Social Service projects

    Many welfare projects were conducted by the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) in different Division and Brigades under the SFHQ-E area. 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the 24 Division took necessary steps to ease off the inundation at Panama-Silmatha road which was under water.
