The 16th Contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC), after officially assuming peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), participated as role players in Patrolling, CASEVAC, and Denial of Freedom of Movement activities on 16 and 17 July 2025. These were conducted in collaboration with the Indonesian Force Protection Unit and the Malaysian Battalion in a series of scenarios involving an IED explosion followed by an ambush and the escorting of a CASEVAC.


The 15th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) returned to the island on 02 July 2025, upon completion of their tour of duty in the UNIFIL. The 15th SLFPC contingent commanded by Lieutenant Colonel D.K.D Vithanage RSP VIR, consists of 11 Officers and 114 Other Ranks. As the Rear Party Eight Officers and four Other Ranks stayed in Lebanon until the completion of duty handing over process.


The 16th contingent of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) left for Lebanon on 02 July 2025 amidst greetings and best wishes. The 16th SLFPC contingent is composed of 121 Army personnel, including 07 Officers and 114 Other Ranks from the Sri Lanka Army. It is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Y.S.H.N.P Silva USP psc of the Gajaba Regiment and the Second in Command by Lieutenant Colonel B.M.A.I.U Obayasena USP psc of Mechanized Infantry Regiment.


The 15th Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) took part in the ‘International Cultural Festival 2025’ held at the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Headquarters in Naquora on 28 May 2025. The Sri Lankan stall featured traditional food varieties and beverages prepared by SLFPC troops. The cultural and calypso team entertained the audience with Sri Lankan folk dances and musical performances during the event.
