The Reconnaissance Visit of the German Mobile Training Team to Sri Lanka

A reconnaissance team comprising seven officials from the German Armed Forces arrived in Sri Lanka on 26 November 2025, following an invitation extended by Sri Lanka to conduct Mobile Training Teams for Sri Lankan peacekeepers.

The reconnaissance team, led by Captain Nils Norwig of the German Air Force, was warmly welcomed at the Directorate of Overseas Operations on 27 November 2025. Preliminary discussions on Mobile Training were held between the German delegation and Sri Lankan military officials, including the Director Overseas Operations, Brigadier M.K.D.P. Mapalagama psc; the Commandant of the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka, Brigadier Y.M.S.C.B. Jayathilaka RSP USP; the Commandant of the School of Military Engineering, Colonel J.A.C.S. Jagoda psc; and the Colonel Overseas Operations, Colonel K.A.P. Karawita RSP USP.

During their stay in Sri Lanka, the reconnaissance team will visit several military training establishments.
