German Bundeswehr UN Mobile Training Team Visits Sri Lanka to Strengthen Peacekeeping Training

A seven-member United Nations Mobile Training Team (UN MTT), comprising specialists from the German Bundeswehr Air Force, arrived in Sri Lanka on 26 November 2025 to conduct a feasibility assessment for Advanced Field Training for Sri Lankan Army personnel deployed on UN peace support operations.

The proposed training aims to enhance skills in field exercises, movement procedures, crowd-management techniques and identifying hazardous items.

Initial discussions were held at the Army Headquarters on 27 November, with the participation of the Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME), Colonel J.A.C.S. Jagoda psc, senior Army officials and the German delegation. On 28 November, the team conducted a detailed field visit to SLSME in Embilipitiya, inspecting classrooms, training facilities and practical exercise areas.

A final discussion reviewed training methodology, sequencing and the integration of modern technology for the upcoming joint programme.
