11th Contingent at SRIMED Level 2 Hospital in South Sudan Marks Completion of Tenure

The 11th contingent of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), serving at the SRIMED Level 2 UN Hospital in Bor, South Sudan, comprising 10 Officers and 41 Other Ranks, arrived in Sri Lanka on 11 March 2026 following the successful completion of their one-year mission. Meanwhile, the remaining 05 Officers and 04 Other Ranks remained in South Sudan as the rear party and are expected to arrive in due course.

Upon arrival, the troops of the 11th contingent serving at the Level 2 Hospital under UNMISS were warmly welcomed by Major General S.P. Wickramasekara RWP RSP USP psc, Director General of Overseas Operations, along with Brigadier S. Wijesiriwardhane, Director of Movement, Brigadier K.J. Ranaweera RWP RSP ndu psc Isc, Centre Commandant SLAMC, and several senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

During their one-year tenure, the SRIMED troops remained committed to ensuring the smooth functioning of the Level 2 Hospital. They made significant contributions towards maintaining UN healthcare standards and quality, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and effective medical care.
