Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, assumed office as the 21st Commander of Security Forces (Central) on 07 October 2024.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, on 08 October 2024, paid his last respects to late Colonel D.M.B.P.B Dissanayaka RSP USP of the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) at Jayaratne VIP Parlour.

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch (VIR-SVB), led by Chairperson Mrs. Damayanti Bandaranayake, organized a special excursion for 23 boys from the Maliyadewa Orphanage to Colombo Metropolitan on 5 October 2024, in line with the World Children’s Day.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Iresha Fernando, the Chairperson of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAOC-SVB) in collaboration with the School of Ordnance, conducted a community assistance programme at "Mawpiya Sewana" Elders' Home in Horana on 01 October 2024 in conjunction with the upcoming 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, in line with the World Elders’ Day.

Major General P.G.P.S Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, the 5th Commander of 1 Corps relinquished his duties upon his retirement on 05 October 2024 during a formal military ceremony held at the Headquarters, 1 Corps, Kilinochchi.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Vajira Perera, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch (SLLI – SVB), the SLLI troops initiated a housing project on 06 July 2024.

The Passing out Parade and certificate awarding ceremony of the Bomb and Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal (BIEDD) Course Number - 08 got underway at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) on 04 October 2024.

Major General G.M.N. Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, the 20th Commander of Security Forces (Central), officially relinquished his duties on 6 October 2024, marking the conclusion of an illustrious 35-year military career.

As the Sri Lanka Army approaches its 75th anniversary, a dignified ceremony was held on Monday (7) at the Battaramulla War Heroes’ Monument (Ranaviru Smarakaya) to honour the immense sacrifices of fallen War Heroes.

Major General P.G.P.S Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, Commander, 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment, Commando Regiment, was invited to the Office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, on 07 October 2024, along with his family members, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after a distinguished 35-year service.
