In celebration of World Children's Day, the 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) organized a special program at Mesiya Preschool in Sriwallipuram on 01 October 2024 under the guidance of Commander of the 242 Infantry Brigade, and supervision of Commanding Officer of 8 SLNG.

Major General G.M.N. Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, Commander, Security Forces (Central), and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry, was invited to the Office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, on 04 October 2024, together with his family members, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after a distinguished career spanning 35 years.

Major General W.G.P. Sisira Kumara RSP, Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, on 03 October 2024, along with his family, before his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army.

A representative gathering of Officers and Other Ranks of the Islamic faith in the Army joined a special prayer session this morning (3) at Colpetty Jumma Mosque to invoke blessings for the forthcoming 75th Army Anniversary as part of the multi-religious observances.

Major General J.K.R Jayakody RWP USP assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Infantry Division amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 58 Division Headquarters on 26 September 2024.

Troops of the 12 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment constructed a new home for a needy family in Sinnawalayankaddu. The house was officially vested in the beneficiary by Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division on 02 October 2024.

A blood donation programme was organised at the Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-East) under the guidance of Major General S.A. Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, Commander of SF-East, to mark the Sri Lanka Army's 75th Anniversary on 02 October 2024.

Coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) organised a special lunch for 100 elders at the Vavuniya Elders’ Home on 02 October 2024.

Major General M.S Devapriya USP ndc, the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) and General Officer Commanding 64 Infantry Division visited the 3 SLAC on 28 September 2024.

To mark World Children’s Day on 01 October 2024, a generous initiative was organised by 12 Infantry Division at Helagama Primary School with sponsorship from the Old Boys’ Association (Australian Branch) of Kalutara Vidyalaya, coordinated by Major B.A.J Pushpakumara RSP.
