The Commander of Security Forces (Central) Relinquished the Office

Major General G.M.N. Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, the 20th Commander of Security Forces (Central), officially relinquished his duties on 6 October 2024, marking the conclusion of an illustrious 35-year military career.
The ceremonial event was held at the Security Force Headquarters (Central) in Diyatalawa, adhering to the military customs.
In tribute to his service, he was accorded a grand farewell, which included a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
Following the formal military proceedings, he joined for a group photograph to commemorate the event.
As part of the formalities, the outgoing Commander signed the official document symbolizing his departure from office.
A ceremonial "All Rank Tea" was then hosted at the Non Commissioned Officer's Club where he expressed his deep gratitude to all Officers and Other Ranks for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
During the event, he also encouraged his troops to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
The farewell concluded with a traditional departure ceremony, where Officers and Other Ranks, standing on either side of the road, saluting the departing Commander, honouring his distinguished service as he left the Headquarters.
