Army Renovates Homes for Needy Families in Celebration of 75th Anniversary

In line with the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, troops from the 2 Engineer Services Regiment (2 ESR) renovated a home for a deserving family in Tissawewa West, Anuradhapura. The housewarming ceremony, held on 15 October 2024, was graced by Major General J.P.C. Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander of the Security Forces (Wanni), as the Chief Guest. The renovation was conducted under the guidance of Major General T.A. Peiris ptsc, Logistics Commander (Wanni) and supervision of Major H.M.S.J. Bandara, Commanding Officer of 2 ESR.
Blood Donation Programme by Royal College Red Cross Society

Troops of the 12 Infantry Division took part in a blood donation campaign organised by the Royal College Red Cross Society at the Blood Bank of District General Hospital, Hambantota, on 12 October 2024.
68th Anniversary of the 2 (V) SLSR Celebrated

The 68th anniversary of the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) was celebrated at the Battalion Headquarters in Kandy on 4 October 2024. The event featured religious activities and military formalities, conducted under the guidance of Major A.M.D.S. Thilakarathne, the Commanding Officer of the 2 (V) SLSR.

Major General A.H.L.G. Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), inspected the IDP Centres established for flood-affected civilians at Vidyavardhana Vidyalaya in Wellampitiya, Siddhartha Vidyalaya in Sedawatta, and Gamini Vidyalaya in Kotuvila on 14 October 2024.

GOC 56 Infantry Division Visits 561 Infantry Brigade and Under Command Units

Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division, conducted a formal visit to the 561 Infantry Brigade, 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and the 16 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 4 October 2024.
UNIFIL Commander Visits Injured Soldier in Tyre

Lieutenant General Aroldo Lazaro Saenz, the Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) along with Contingent Commander of the Sri Lanka Force Protection Unit (SLFPU), visited the Jabel Amel Hospital in Tyre, Lebanon on 12 October 2024. He inquired about a soldier injured during a conflict while on force protection duties at UNIFIL HQ in Naqoura.

Sri Lanka Army Deploys Additional Troops to Assist People Affected by Adverse Weather Condition

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Defence and the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Sri Lanka Army has deployed troops to assist people affected by the ongoing adverse weather conditions. The overflowing of rivers has resulted in widespread flooding across the island, prompting immediate action to provide much-needed relief and support to those impacted by this disaster.
