Major General V.D.S Perera of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed duties as the 18th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 64 Infantry Division amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 64 Infantry Division Headquarters on 12 October 2024.

Upon his arrival, the newly appointed GOC was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of the 64 Infantry Division. Thereafter, he planted a sapling and then posed for a group photograph.

Later, GOC auspiciously took over duties amidst religious observances and placed his signature on an official document, signifying the acceptance of his new office. After the formalities, the newly appointed GOC addressed the troops and attended an All-Ranks Tea.

Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
