The State Vesak Festival 2025, marking the Buddhist Year of 2569, began on 10th May at the International Buddhist Centre Temple in Nuwara Eliya, under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Most Venerable Maha Nayaka Theros of the Three Nikayas.

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Senior Officers, Officers and All Ranks extend Vesak greetings to all Sri Lankans, wishing them peace, enlightenment, harmony and spiritual renewal on this thrice blessed Vesak Day.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, visited the Polonnaruwa General Hospital today (09) to inquire about the well-being of the military personnel injured in the helicopter accident that occurred during a demonstration of the Passing-Out Parade scheduled to be held today (09) at the Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Training School, Maduruoya.
Making an official high-level visit aimed at enhancing diplomatic relations and defence collaborations the Japanese Minister of Defence Hon. Nakatani Gen arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday (May 03).
