The Sri Lanka Army, in collaboration with the Clean Sri Lanka Task Force, launched an islandwide coastal cleaning campaign under the theme “A Cleaner Environment with the Army - A Clean Coastline for the Nation” on 29 July 2025. Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the inauguration of the campaign at the Kaakkadhuwa Island coastal stretch in Mattakkuliya.


Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, paid an official visit to Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Headquarters, and called on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe WWV RWP RSP and three Bars USP fndu(China) psc qhi, today (04 July 2025) at Air Force Headquarters, Sri Jayewardenepura.


Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, successfully concluded an official visit to India, undertaken at the invitation of General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army.


To mark the World Environment Day, a special programme was held on 05 June 2025 at Army Headquarters under the theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’, in line with the Clean Sri Lanka initiative. This initiative aims to promote an environmentally friendly and sustainable society. Accordingly, the week from 30 May to 05 June 2025 was designated as the Environment Week.


The 16th commemoration of National War Heroes’ Day was held on 19 May 2025 at the National War Heroes’ Monument in Battaramulla. His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
