Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces - West (SF - West), awarded certificates of commendation to an Officer and four Other Ranks from the 3 (V) Gemunu Watch on 02 October 2024 at Security Forces Headquarters (West). The recognition was for their heroic act in rescuing an individual from a suicide attempt in the Nilwala River on 30 September 2024.

The troops responded promptly to the emergency and saved the individual from a suicide attempt. The rescue team, consisting of Major S. Indika, Sergeant A.D Daluwaththa, Infantryman D.M.U.S Jayasingha, Infantryman W.M.S Warnakulasuriya, and Infantryman L.T Lakmal, was praised for their rapid response and bravery, which brought great pride to the Sri Lanka Army.

During the ceremony, Commander SF - West expressed his admiration for their courageous actions and emphasized how their dedication reflected the Army's values of courage, selflessness, and responsibility. He commended their efforts as an inspiration to fellow soldiers and the entire military.
