The Sports Competition in Vavuniya Division Schools was held at the Vavuniya Tamil Central College playground on 01 July 2024. The event was organized by the Zonal Education Office Vavuniya, with the assistance of troops of the 56 Infantry Division.

Commandant of AWC Inaugurates Poson Festival at Sri Rahathankanda Hermitage

The Sri Rahathankanda Hermitage celebrated Poson Festival from 21 - 23 June 2024. Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant of Army War College (AWC), inaugurated the event by illuminating the Weera Keppetipola Stupa of the temple and participated in the “Buddha Vandana” programme under the guidance of Venerable Elpitiye Sumanarathana Thero.

Eastern Province Poson Dawn 2024 Competition

The Eastern Province Poson Dawn 2024 competition took place from 21 to 26 June 2024 in Ampara. A total of 150 Poson lanterns were displayed during the competition. Government institutes, civilians, and military establishments participated in the event.

241 Infantry Brigade Hosts Mihindu Perahera and Dansal Programme on Poson Poya Day

Coinciding with Poson Poya Day, the Sri Vijayarama Temple in Akkaraipattu organized a Mihindu Perahera on 22 June 2024. Under the guidance of Brigadier L.S.D.N. Pathiratne RSP USP, Commander of the 241 Infantry Brigade, dansala programme was held on the temple premises to provide buns, bananas and cool drinks for the participants of perahera. Mr. A. Abdul Salam, Chairman of the Akkaraipattu Trade Association, sponsored the event.

SF - West Troops Support Pindapatha Pilgrimage to Aid Maharagama Apeksha Hospital

Under the guidance of Senior Lecturer Yodhakandiye Ariyawansa Thero of the Sri Lanka Buddhist and Pali University, a pindapatha pilgrimage was organised to fulfil the needs of patients at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital on 20 June 2024.
