Nigerian NDC Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on Commander of the Army

A delegation comprised of 17 faculty members of the National Defence College (NDC) of Nigeria, headed by Air Commodore Osichinaka Chedu UBADIKE, currently in Sri Lanka on a six-day familiarisation tour as part of their curriculum paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday (25). The delegation on arrival at the Army Headquarters was received by Brigadier D.K.S.K Dolage USP psc, Director Training before they were accompanied to the office of the Commander of the Army.
Army Muslim Members with Commander Join ‘Iftar’ Ritual at Laya Beach Hotel

A representative gathering of Officers and Other Ranks of Islamic faith in the Army, together with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army sat together Wednesday (19) at Laya Beach Hotel, Wadduwa to perform the Islamic ‘Iftar’ ritual, the breaking of fast of Muslims at sunset. Organized by the Army Muslims' Association, the performance of the ritual ‘Iftar’ symbolized the degree of reconciliation and the goodwill, practiced by world-wide Muslims. It was also meant to invoke blessings on the prosperity of the country according to the rituals.
9 SLA Troops with Outside Help Provide Shelter to Deserving Family

9 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) troops of the 233 Infantry Brigade of the 23 Infantry Division with sponsorship, provided by the private donor, Mr. Wishva Udara Alaharuwan, contributed their labour and technical assistance in order to build a new house for a deserving family in Kolakanawadiya, Welikanda area. The new house was warmed on 10 April 2023 during a simple ceremony in the presence of Major General S. R. K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - East a simple ceremony.
New Year Spirits & Traditional Tea Table Herald First Working Day

The customary Sinhala and Tamil New Year tea table and cordial get-together at the Army Headquarters (AHQ) got underway on Monday (17) morning with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. On arrival at the venue, the Commander was welcomed by the Chief of Staff, Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu and Senior Officers including the Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu and all other Principle Staff Officers at the Army Headquarters.
New Year Musical Fiesta Staged at Panagoda

Bringing the festivities connected to the Sri Lanka Army Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival held at Panagoda on Monday (10) to a climax, a musical fiesta, organized by the Security Force HQ - West, under the guidance of Commander of the Army, opened the stage for budding Army vocalists and a couple of popular artistes. The ‘Ranaviru Fiesta 2023’ backed by the Sri Lanka Army beat group, together with the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps beat group mesmerized the audience in the presence of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Kattudai Family, Beneficiaries of the Army-built 768th New Home in the Peninsula

The Army's ongoing house construction for needy families in the Jaffna peninsula continues unabated as more and more overseas-based donors, confident of the Army's committed capacity, sincerity and transparency are voluntarily offering their financial sponsorship for the worthy cause. The 768th new house, erected in Kattudai, Manipay (west) area in Jaffna by skilled troops of the 513 Infantry Brigade of the 51 Infantry Division to be in line with the instructions of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna was vested in the beneficiary, Mr. Fernando Renushan whose family was without a proper shelter.
House Recipient in Thunnalai Narrates Woes & Thanks the Army for Commendable Role

During the warming ceremony of the 767th Army-built new house at Thunnalai, Jaffna, Mrs Shanmuganam Chandarakala a resident woman in the village on behalf of the recipient, Mrs Radiswaran Raseswari, a mother of four children and her physically-handicapped husband commented on the Army project heaping praise. Army Chief Welcomed at 22 Infantry Division HQ in Trincomalee

Commander in the East Stimulates Troops Involved in Food Security Projects

As the second segment of the itinerary, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage during his visit to the East took time off to see the Army Farm at Galkanda and inspected the egg production process, being carried out under the supervision of the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL). The project expects to provide the entire egg requirement of the Army on a staggered basis as the production process spreads its wings to other Army-managed farms too in the future.
