Troops of the 18th Sri Lanka National Guard were swiftly deployed to douse a wildfire that erupted in the Pihimbiyagolla forest reserve near the Kuragala on 03 June 2025. This was successfully conducted under the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division.

The 38th remembrance of the Aranthalawa massacre was solemnly commemorated on 2 June 2025 at the Aranthalawa International Buddhist Center. The massacre, which occurred on 2 June 1987 in Ampara District, claimed the lives of 33 Buddhist monks and four civilians at the hands of the LTTE.
