Army Moments

Under the guidance of Major General W.P Kariyawasam, General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, and the leadership of the Commanding Officers of the 7th Battalion, the Gemunu Watch (7 GW) and the 9th Field Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery (9 SLA) organized two impactful donation programmes on 04 January 2025.

The troops of Security Forces Headquarters – East (SFHQ-East), arranged a formal ceremony to bid farewell to the outgoing Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc at SFHQ premises on 06 January 2025.

Under the supervision of Brigadier M.G.A Malandeniya RSP, Commander of 231 Infantry Brigade and with the leadership of the Commanding Officer of 12th Battalion, the Gemunu Watch (12 GW), the troops of 12 GW organized a donation programme for 722 students of Vijaya Parakrama Primary School and Palatiyawa Primary School at Kalukale in Dimbulagala on 05 January 2025.

Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 24th Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) on 02 January 2025 at Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.

The 592 Infantry Brigade celebrated its 17th Anniversary with a series of events on 29 December 2024, under the guidance of Brigadier K.L.I Karunanayake RWP RSP ndc, Commander of the Brigade.

A new house was constructed by the troops of the 4th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (4 SLSR) for a needy family in Pawatkarei, Point Pedro. Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), graced the housewarming ceremony as the Chief Guest and handed over the keys of the newly constructed house to the beneficiary on 06th January 2025.

Brigadier K.A.D.C.R Kannangara RSP ndc of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) assumed duties as the Overall Security Coordinator of Army Headquarters on 06th January 2025 during a brief ceremony.

Brigadier B.A.D.R.A.C Wijeyesekara RSP USACGSC, of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, assumed duties on 06th January 2025 as the 39th Director of the Directorate of Staff Duties during a brief ceremony at Army Headquarters.

The Special Forces (SF) celebrated its 28th Anniversary on 03rd January 2025 at the SF Regimental Headquarters, under the guidance of Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander of the Security Forces (Wanni) and Colonel of the Regiment, SF.

Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), visited 51 Infantry Division on 05 January 2025.
