Major General M. M Sumanasena (Retired) of the Gemunu Watch (GW) who had been promoted to the Major General rank on 15 May 2010 was welcomed recently in a ceremony at GW Regiment Headquarters. The promotion ceremony was held at Gemunu Watch Regimental Center.
The 24th death anniversary of Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, one of the finest war veterans ever produced by the Sri Lanka Army in contemporary time is held on Monday (8th August). Several commemorative programmes, organized by Mrs Laly Kobbekaduwa, the spouse of late legendary War Hero and his Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) are scheduled to take place at Anuradhapura and elsewhere throughout the day.
