Sri Lankan Military Contingent Extends Humanitarian Assistance in Myan

A military contingent from Sri Lanka has arrived in Myanmar to support ongoing emergency response efforts following a recent disaster. The Sri Lankan Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief Team landed at Yangon International Airport on 05 April 2025 and has been deployed to the affected Naypyidaw province, located approximately 450 kilometres north of Yangon.

The team's immediate focus is to assess the situation on the ground, provide essential medical care and support the health infrastructure during this critical period. Comprising skilled professionals and support personnel, the team is currently stationed in Naypyidaw, where emergency relief operations are underway.

As part of their mission, the team has been assigned to Pobba Thiri township, where they will conduct two mobile medical clinics. These clinics aim to deliver urgent care and carry out a health surveillance assessment of the area.

Coordination between Myanmar officials and the Sri Lankan relief team is ongoing to ensure the efficient delivery of aid and targeted support to high-need zones.

In addition to the ongoing operations, Sri Lankan medical teams conducted two mobile clinics on 09 April 2025 in Pobba Thiri Township, aiming to provide essential healthcare support to displaced families. The first clinic was held at the IDP Centre in Nawaday Army Family Quarters, treating 84 patients. The second clinic, conducted at the Damma Parami Monastery IDP Centre, provided medical attention to 42 individuals.

Continuing its humanitarian outreach in Myanmar, the Sri Lankan medical team conducted a mobile clinic at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centres in Kyi Taung Kan Village and the GP Transport and Admin Department on 09 April 2025. The medical team provided much-needed healthcare support, treating a total of 132 patients at Pobba Thiri Township. An additional 44 patients received treatment during the evening hours.

Similarly, the Sri Lankan medical team conducted three mobile clinics for a total of 164 patients at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centres situated at the Ministry of Commerce, Lat Lok Toun Pagoda and Mashikhana Monastery in Pobba Thiri Township on 10 April 2025.

Similarly, the Sri Lankan medical team conducted three mobile clinics at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centres in Thaku Camp, Nyrana Camp, Yana Camp and Dana Theikiti Camp in Subu Thiri Township on 11 April 2025.

Further, the Sri Lankan medical team conducted a mobile clinic at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centre in Wunna Theikti, Suba Thiri Township on 12 April 2025 for 68 persons.

Continuing humanitarian efforts, the Sri Lankan medical team conducted two mobile clinics for 70 individuals at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centres in Thuk Thate and the Business Education High School in Suba Thiri Township on 13 April 2025.

Continuing their constant efforts, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic and awareness programme for 76 individuals at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centre located at Thapyaygone Basic Education High School in Suba Thiri Township on 14 April 2025.

Further, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 144 patients at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centre located at Thayarkoge Monastry in Suba Thiri Township on 15th April 2025.

Continuing their efforts, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 75 patients at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Centre, located at No. 06 Public Community Hall in Lewe Township, on 16 April 2025.

In the meantime, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 130 patients at Yan Aun Myin Pagoda located in Deikhinathiri Township on 17 April 2025.

Meantime, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 121 patients at Tapaung Stadium in Pyinmana Township on 18 April 2025.

Remaining their efforts, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 180 patients at Tapaung stadium, located at Pyinmana Township, on 19th April 2025.

Continuing their efforts, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic and a donation programme for 205 patients at Tapaung Stadium in Pyinmana Township on 20th April 2025.

Meantime, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 120 patients at Tapaung Stadium in Pyinmana Township on 21st April 2025.

Remaining their efforts, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic for 110 patients at Tapaung stadium, located at Pyinmana Township, on 22nd April 2025.

Moreover, the Sri Lankan Medical Team conducted a mobile clinic and a donation programme for 146 patients at Tapaung Stadium, Pyinmana Township on 23 April 2025.

The Sri Lanka Army continues to extend its dedicated support for the annual Sri Dalada Maligawa pilgrimage through a series of initiatives. In collaboration with the Sri Dalada Maligawa Authority, Sri Lanka Army troops have organized dansals to provide free meals and refreshments to pilgrims. Similarly, the Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit has organized a tea cup dan sala for 5,000 devotees per day.
