The Russian Weightlifting Federation Far East Cup - 2024 Championship was held from 29 November to 3 December 2024 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia. Private S.W.B.K.R.S.D Somathilaka, representing the 1 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, clinched the Gold Medal in the 55 kg weight category, showcasing exceptional strength and skill in the competition.

The 143 Infantry Brigade commemorated its 14th anniversary on 30 November 2024 with a series of events held at the Brigade Headquarters premises despite the challenging weather conditions. Humanitarian Aid Initiative from 56 and 59 Infantry Division Amidst Adverse Weather Conditions

Under the direction of Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, the Commander Security Forces (W), a humanitarian aid programme was launched to assist the families displaced due to adverse weather conditions in the Vavuniya District on 29 November 2024. The initiative was sponsored by Manusath Derana and philanthropist Mr. Mahesh Jayawardena.
