Sri Lanka Army Assists the Rebuilding Process

The historic Elahera Anicut was officially reopened on 30 December 2025 following the completion of major restoration work carried out jointly by the Sri Lanka Army, the Mahaweli Authority and the Department of Irrigation. In response to adverse weather condition that affected the country, troops of the 14th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (14 SLSR), under the 242 Infantry Brigade, carried out the restoration of the side embankment of Duuwe Lake on 07 January 2026, following a formal request made by the Irrigation Department.
