Army Moments

Under the guidance of Major General P.R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division, and with the coordination of the Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), a school supplies donation programme was conducted on 04 January 2025 at the Maradankani Cultural Centre.

Colonel T.G.N. De Silva of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps assumed duties as the 14th Director of the Directorate of Army Benevolent Fund on 01st January 2025 at his office in Panagoda during a brief ceremony.

Lieutenant Colonel D.M.C.L Dissanayake RWP RSP officially assumed duties as the Commandant of the Airmobile Training School on 01 January 2025, during a brief ceremony.

The Unit Coaches Course No. 50 was conducted at the Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS) in Diyatalawa from 13th November 2024 to 30th December 2024, under the supervision of Brigadier R.P. Munipura RWP RSP, the Commandant of MSTS. A total of 06 Officers and 28 Other Ranks participated in the course.

Major General U.L.J.S Perera RSP USP psc of the Gemunu Watch, assumed office on 01 January 2025 as the new Military Secretary (MS) of the Sri Lanka Army at the Army Headquarters during a brief ceremony.

The Army War College (AWC) in Buttala celebrated its 3rd Anniversary on 17 December 2024.

Major General M.P.N.A Muthumala USP psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 51 Infantry Division, visited the 511 Infantry Brigade and the 9th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) on 30 December 2024.

The Inter-Battalion Sports Championship of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) successfully concluded at the Regimental Centre of MIR on 29 December 2024.

The Corps of Engineer Services (CES) conducted a lecture on Drug Prevention on 26 December 2024, under the guidance of Major General K.A.N Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of CES. The programme aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse among military personnel.

Mrs. Dulshani Tharaka Mahanama, the Preventive Coordinator for Colombo District at the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB), conducted the lecture and shared valuable insights into the challenges of combating drug abuse in Sri Lanka.

The 13th Annual Green Building Awards Ceremony, organized by the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL), was held on 19 December 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

During the ceremony, 14 Officers from the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) were presented with certificates for successfully completing the GBCSL’s Associate Professional Training Program. This achievement officially enrolled them as Associate Professionals of the GBCSL.
