1 SF Celebrates its 36th Anniversary

The 1 Special Forces (SF) Regiment celebrated its 36th Anniversary on 10 December 2024, under the guidence of Lieutenant Colonel D.D. Masinghe RWP USP psc, Commanding Officer of 1 SF. Major General J.P.C. Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander, Security Forces (Wanni) and Colonel of the SF Regiment, graced the event as the Chief Guest.

Troops of 16 GR Conduct Tree Planting Programme

The Sri Pada pilgrimage season commenced on Uduwap Full Moon Poya Day, marking the beginning of the annual sacred journey from December to May. This year’s season began with religious ceremonies at the Sri Pada Raja Maha Viharaya in Galpoththawala, Ratnapura, including the enshrinement of the relics casket and the statue of God Saman.

2 (V) VIR Assists in Clearing Fallen Tree at Thulana Sri Bhodirajaramaya

A Bo Tree at Thulana Sri Bhodirajaramaya in Rambewa fell down due to heavy rain and strong winds, causing significant damage to a building within the temple premises. In response to a request from the Divisional Secretariat in Rambewa, the troops of the 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) promptly removed the fallen tree and cleared the area on 17 December 2024.
