SLNG's HQ Battalion Opens its New Facilities for Officers & Other Ranks

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) as the day's Chief Guest was invited to inaugurate two new accommodation facilities at the SLNG Regimental HQ Battalion premises at Heraliyawala, Kurunegala this morning (6 April 2023). Brigadier H.A Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc, SLNG Centre Commandant warmly welcomed the Commander of the Army on his arrival at the camp premises after a ceremonial Guard Turnout saluted him at the entrance in accordance with military formalities.
Commander in the East Stimulates Troops Involved in Food Security Projects

As the second segment of the itinerary, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage during his visit to the East took time off to see the Army Farm at Galkanda and inspected the egg production process, being carried out under the supervision of the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL). The project expects to provide the entire egg requirement of the Army on a staggered basis as the production process spreads its wings to other Army-managed farms too in the future.

Service of Dedicated DIs Lauded Awarding Commander’s Certificates

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army in recognition and appreciation of a special set of Instructors awarded appreciative certificates (‘Yudahamudapathi Pranama Sahathika') to 16 personnel after inviting them to the Army Headquarters on Wednesday (March 08). A group of 15 Senior Non Commissioned Officers of Army, Navy and a Non Commissioned Officer of the Air Force who have done a splendid job as Drill Instructors (DIs), who trained the Presidential and Corps Colours Awarding Ceremony of the National Cadet Corps that got underway a few days ago were the recipients of those appreciative certificates.

The Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi NI (M), S BT, currently in Sri Lanka on a four-day long goodwill visit called on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Monday (27) at the Army Headquarters. SLSC Initiates Technological Seminar Sessions at Army HQ

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC)-initiated first symposium of the series of scheduled 'Technological Seminars', themed ‘Precise Human - Technology Symmetry for Better Organizational Efficacy’ was inaugurated this morning (Feb 22) at the Multifunctional Hall at the Army Headquarters, headed by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest. The seminar series were initiated on a conceptual notion of the Commander of the Army and under the guidance of Major General H.M.L.D Herath RSP VSV USP psc, Chief Signal Officer (CSO). Major General D.G.S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, Deputy Chief of Staff, together with the CSO warmly welcomed the Army Chief at the entrance.
CISM Run Flagged Off with Hundreds of Tri Service Officers

Smartly-lined up more than 300 of tri-service members joined the ‘Conseil International du Sport Militaire’ (CISM) run on Saturday (18) to mark the World Military Day of the CISM after assembling at Air Force ground in Colombo, headed by General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Army, Navy and Air Force Commanders and tri service Senior Officers. This year's CISM run which began at Air Force ground covered a distance of about 4 km before it ended near the same location. One hundred personnel from each service, Army, Navy and Air Force, led by respective tri-service Commanders adds special significance every year and symbolizes the international recognition of sports capabilities of the Armed Forces in Sri Lanka.

The visiting Chairman JCSC, Pakistan was received by Colonel D.K.R Perera, Commander, Army Headquarters’ Brigade and was welcomed at the Army Headquarters in a formal military ceremony where General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, HI (M) was honoured in a smartly-dressed Guard Turnout in conformity with military traditions.
