Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) Awareness Programme Concludes at IPSOTSL

The awareness programme on Patrols/Convoy in a Hostile Environment with a focus on Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), conducted by the United Nations Mobile Training Team (MTT) from the Federal Republic of Germany, was successfully concluded on 15 May 2026 at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL).

The programme, held from 20 April to 15 May 2026, was conducted in two stages at IPSOTSL and the Army Training School (ATS) - Maduru Oya. A total of 54 participants from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Police attended the training.

The closing ceremony was held at IPSOTSL with the participation of the Honourable Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Mrs. Sarah Hasselbarth as the Chief Guest, while the Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army attended as the Guest of Honour.

The Deputy Ambassador delivered the closing remarks, marking the successful completion of the programme.
