Sri Lanka Army Contingent Departs for Exercise Shake Hand – II in Pakistan

The second edition of Exercise Shake Hand is scheduled to take place from 26 April to 10 May 2026 at the Special Operations School, Tarbela, Pakistan. The objective of this exercise is to enhance cooperation and promote knowledge sharing between the two nations.

A Sri Lankan contingent comprising 08 Officers and 37 Other Ranks departed from Bandaranaike International Airport on 23 April 2026 to take part in the exercise. The team is led by Lieutenant Colonel T.M.D. Tennakoon RSP Lsc of the Gemunu Watch. The team is expected to engage in a series of joint training sessions with the Pakistan Army, focusing on strengthening operational readiness, improving tactical proficiency and enhancing interoperability in diverse counter-insurgency scenarios.

Brigadier H.P.D.S. Gunawardana RSP, Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade, was present at the airport and extended his best wishes to the departing contingent.
