Based on information received by the Military Intelligence Corps, a joint raid was conducted on 11 April 2026 in collaboration with officers of the Hambegamuwa Police Station.
During the operation carried out inside the Udawalawe Reserve, a cannabis cultivation site spanning approximately three acres was detected.
During the raid, approximately 155,000 cannabis plants, each about three feet in height, with an estimated value of nearly Rs. 4.5 million, were seized.
